Social Innovation
The first Mission:Enterprise summer school focusses on social innovation. First, we have to know what the expression ’social innovation‘ carries. Social innovation has many facets. It is easier to show real-life best practices. So, using #acesocialinnovation we want to inspire you by introducing startups that are great examples of social innovation. That way you can find your definition of social innovation.
Beeneo
The first one up is the startup beeneo . They sell extraordinary honey flavors. For many people, honey tastes boring or they just do not like the taste. That is why beeneo wants to revolutionize honey. But what makes them special and how do they represent Social Innovation?
Sustainability
The main priority is sustainability. More than 80% of the honey found in supermarkets comes from South America. Beeneo honey comes from local hobby beekeepers. Moreover, all ingredients are organic and natural. Another sustainable aspect of the product is the packaging. The jars are compostable and do good. For every sold honey jar the company donates 10ct for a bee saving project.
Social Impact
Further, social aspects are a major element for beeneo as well. They aim to enlighten the younger generation about the importance of bees and the severe circumstances, that bees are finding themselves at the moment. Besides, beeneo understands the prevailing issues of local hobby beekeepers. Special is their delivery of said values. Instead of teaching, they intend to incite.
We hope this week’s #acesocialinnovation did inspire you so that you might develop your individual idea of Social Innovation. Stay tuned for more #acesocialinnovation or have a look at our Instagram and Facebook channel.
